On March 17-19, 2025, Bedoukian Research, Inc. presented its high-impact flavor ingredients in Shanghai, China at Food Ingredients China (FIC), one of the world’s largest tradeshows for food additives and ingredients. Last year, the event hosted nearly 1,600 exhibitors meeting with over 80,000 visitors. This year, like last, Bedoukian joined its Chinese distributor, Chongqing Zoteq Aroma Chemical Co., Ltd. (Zoteq) to present its unique, high-quality flavor ingredients to the thousands of attendees at FIC.
Nathalie Leandri, Bedoukian’s Global Sales Director, F&F, and Elvin Lim, Bedoukian’s Sales Manager APAC, presented the flavor ingredients selected for the show. Nathalie Leandri remarked, “FIC was an amazing experience and it was an excellent opportunity for us to share our products with the Chinese market. We so appreciate that Zoteq invited us to be part of their booth.”
At FIC 2025, Bedoukian presented four ingredients in five formulations including BRI #841, 3-METHYL-2,4-NONANEDIONE, which was recently added to Bedoukian Research pallet and was showed for the first time at FIC. Bedoukian exhbited the following demonstrations:
- BRI #841, 3-METHYL-2,4-NONANEDIONE, provides a sweet, hay character, reminiscent of green and black tea. At lower levels, cream notes are apparent. This chemical is very versatile. Sweet, cream notes enhance caramel, milk and other dairy flavors. Its dry green notes work well for use in dried parsley, chive, and dried spinach. It also works well for seafood flavors such as anchovy and seaweed. This newly added ingredient was presented in black tea and in a seaweed-flavored drink. Bedoukian Research received high praise for this material; especially as tea flavors have been trending in the Chinese market. Flavorists will be able to enhance their tea flavors at a very low cost-in-use.
- BRI #519, ETHYL CIS-4-HEPTENOATE, offers a sweet, green, fruity, character reminiscent of pineapple, strawberry, and watermelon. Its sweet, estery taste works well with a variety of fruit flavors, such as watermelon, pineapple, banana, as well as in strawberry, and other berries. It also works well with other fruits, such as apple and kiwi and its green notes are great for vegetable flavors such as cucumber and tomato. At FIC, BRI #519, was presented in a watermelon beverage.
- BRI #282, 6-METHYLHEPTANAL, a new material which has just incorporated on the Chinese GB list in 2024, delivers a fresh, juicy, citrus character reminiscent of grapefruit juice and orange essence oil. BRI #282 adds fresh grapefruit juice character to a variety of applications especially beverages. It blends very well with nootkatone and occurs naturally in orange juice essence oil so it enhances fresh squeezed juice notes in any citrus flavor, including orange, tangerine, grapefruit, pomelo, and yuzu. BRI #282 was presented in a grapefruit beverage
- BRI #379, cis-4-HEPTENAL FCC, features sharp, green, milky, heavy cream notes along with the impression of tea notes. BRI #379 enhances fresh cream notes in a variety of dairy-based flavors. It adds richness to caramel flavors and is also, useful in tea flavors, such as green, matcha, red and chrysanthemum. For FIC, BRI #379 was demonstrated in a cheese-flavored liquid
Elvin Lim, commented, “The importance of the Chinese market for our business continues to grow. It was great to be able to partner with Zoteq. We appreciate their support for Bedoukian and our high-quality ingredients.”
