Chemical Technician – Shipping, 2nd Shift

An exciting role as a Chemical Technician – Shipping, based in Danbury, Connecticut.

2nd shift hours: Monday-Friday, 1:00pm – 10:00pm (shift differential included).

This function, under direct supervision, will execute replenishment, compounding, blending, mixing, dispensing, and packing operations to support daily production and order fulfillment. This position’s responsibilities include ensuring all activities are performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory requirements, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), quality standards, and shipping schedules while meeting established production and logistics KPIs.

You offer…

  • Requisition of chemical materials inventory from Receiving to Shipping facility.
  • Plan and schedule customer order preparation activities in advance to support on-time fulfillment.
  • Accurately compound flavor, fragrance and pheromone formulations while safely handling chemicals in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), quality standards, and applicable safety regulations.
  • Mixing of compounded flavor or fragrance to ensure homogeneity. Labeling & collecting samples for QC inspections.
  • Ensure equipment appropriate to the task is being used.
  • Perform labeling, filling, and packaging of materials into approved containers while ensuring compliance with GHS standards, customer requirements, and quality specifications.
  • May prepare bills of lading as needed; checks items to be shipped against work orders to ascertain that quantities, destination, and routing are correct.
  • May trace lost shipments; initiates proof of delivery documents.
  • May maintain department database, prepare routine reports, and file shipping/receiving records.
  • Receives and unloads incoming materials and compares information on packing slip with purchase order; performs sampling.
  • May operate dolly, pallet jack, and/or forklift in loading and unloading supplies and equipment. May lock warehouse and set alarms. 
  • Performs related work as assigned.

You Offer…

  • High school diploma and at least 2-3 years’ experience directly related to chemical manufacturing and the duties and responsibilities specified. Previous experience as a Chemical Technician or hands-on experience working with chemicals in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Knowledge of standard chemical handling procedures and analytical techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to set goals and get results
  • Be skilled in the ability to evaluate materials by odor, appearance and all quality parameters.
  • Knowledge of postal or commercial international shipping methods and procedures.
  • Attention to detail. Ability to comply with industry regulations.
  • Able to prepare routine paperwork, calculate shipping costs, record data and file as required. Computer data entry. Reading and spelling proficiency. Understands weights and measures.
  • Knowledge of light equipment operation and/or maintenance.
  • Operates loading/unloading equipment, postal and/or commercial shipping computer and appropriate software.
