Sr. Analytical Chemist

An exciting role as a Senior Analytical Chemist in our Facility in Danbury, Connecticut.
The Senior Analytical Chemist, under minimal with wide latitude for use of independent judgment, conducts routine and non-routine analysis of raw materials, in-process and finished formulations according to Standard Operating Procedures. The Senior Analytical Chemist compiles data for documentation of test procedures and prepares reports. Maintains and calibrates lab equipment. Reviews data obtained for compliance to specifications and reports abnormalities. Collaborates with various departments on documentation, testing and implementation of final product availability. May perform special projects concerning analytical and instrument problem solving issues.
This involves a range of activities including:
- Operates and maintains sophisticated equipment to analyze data, and report results. May instruct others in use of equipment.
- Performs highly complex laboratory data acquisition, manipulation and analysis.
- Compiles data and computes results, ensuring quality control and compliance with protocol.
- Prepares standard solutions and reagents for analytical procedures.
- Makes suggestions for improvements in techniques and interpretation, as appropriate.
- Supplies technical information and consults with co-workers regarding results of statistical and observational data.
- Acts as liaison with vendors regarding technology, equipment, techniques, and applications.
- May maintain currency of knowledge with respect to state-of-the-art technology and make recommendations regarding equipment, and/or systems.
- Performs GC and GC/MS analysis and interpretation, titrations, specific gravity, determination of refractive index, and sensory evaluation of raw materials and final products.
- Comply with all BRI environmental, and safety policies and procedures.
You offer…
- A Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, or a related scientific field.
- Major course work in chemistry or a related field is generally preferred.
- Experience in chemical laboratory work.
- Ability to perform GC and GC/MS analysis and interpretation, titrations, specific gravity, determination of refractive index, and sensory evaluation of raw materials and final products.
- Ability to utilize and maintain advanced scientific equipment.
- Knowledge of standard Windows programs. Performs data entry, compiles information, prepares reports and other statistical information.
- Excellent math and problem solving skills.
- Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise.
- Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on data and findings.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
