Global Distributor Summit Brings Partners to Danbury

From September 14 to 18, Bedoukian Research hosted its distributor partners at our Danbury, Connecticut headquarters. Representatives from BLH, Ashapura, Zoteq, Taytonn, Yinca, and Stort joined our global sales team, our consulting perfumer, and our flavorists for five days of business review, ingredient demonstration, and planning for 2027.

Why we host it

Our distributors sit in front of customers in their regions, day after day, in markets and languages we do not cover directly. A 2027 business plan created in Danbury and pushed out to the network is not an owned plan; it’s just a communication. Getting everyone in one building for a week turns it into a plan the people selling it helped build.

The week was a true two-way exchange. We presented the 2027 lineup, the marketing strategy behind it, and the exhibition calendar. Partners told us what will move in their markets, what will not, and what their customers are asking for.

“Hosting our distributor partners is a pleasure, and face-to-face time settles questions that can take months over email. These are the people closest to our customers in their own markets. Their insight is what directs where and how we invest in new technology and capability.”

Robert Sobel, PhD, Chief Executive Officer

What the week covered

We ran the program twice, splitting partners into two smaller groups so every attendee had room to ask questions and give comments where needed rather than sit through a briefing. Company updates opened each group’s schedule, followed by marketing strategy presentations and a portfolio review covering both flavor and fragrance ingredients.

Partners then toured the manufacturing plant. What a distributor gets out of a plant tour is a specific answer for a specific customer question: how a material scales, what the lead time depends on, how lot-to-lot consistency is controlled.

Each distributor team presented market trends from its region and brought products and local materials for the group to sample. For our perfumer, flavorists, and application chemists, that is a direct read on where consumer preference is moving.

Collaborative workshops and team dinners filled the remaining time.

“The BRI Distributor Summit was an insightful and rewarding experience, bringing together valuable market observations, open discussions, and a collaborative approach to how we can better serve our target regions.”

Carolyn Tan, General Manager, Taytonn ASCC

Eight presentations, more than fifty applications

The center of the week was the Applications Lab program: eight separate smelling and tasting presentations covering our high-impact aroma chemicals across more than 50 applications.

Fragrance materials were shown three ways. Neat on blotter in ethanol, in a finished accord, and in application, so partners could evaluate performance where a consumer would encounter it. Flavor materials were shown in water to taste and on blotter.

Each flavor or fragrance demo formula was shown first without our material and then with. This helps us showcase the unique effect our high impact products have on the formula. Our team asked for feedback from the distributors first, before following up with our notes including what the intended effect was and the cost in use of the product in that formula.

“A primary goal of the Applications Lab is to show what a material does in a finished product, at the level a consumer experiences it. Distributors told us which applications their customers are asking about, and that tells us how to build demonstrations that serve the end user.”

Maha Ali, Applications Lab Director

Feedback collected during the demonstrations will help inform the featured material list for 2027. Where a partner told us a material reads differently in their market, or that the application we chose is not the one their customers formulate for, that changes our promotional approach.

Beyond the 2027 lineup, the week gave us a structured read on regional demand. It helped identify gaps in our product catalog which will inform our research and innovation pipeline.  Working side-by-side with our global distributor partners gets us closer to far reaching regional markets so we can ultimately provide them with the high level of service that Bedoukian is known for.

Thank you to our distributors and team members

Our thanks to the distributor teams who traveled from their home markets to be here and kept pace with a jam-packed schedule. Thanks as well to the colleagues across Bedoukian who built the demonstrations and held five days of moving parts together.
