Japan’s F&F School Hosts Special Presentation by Bedoukian Research

Bedoukian Research’s Sales Director, David Bedoukian, was invited to present at the Japan Flavor & Fragrance School in Tokyo, as organized by Bedoukian’s exclusive Japanese agent, Daisyo.  The Japan Flavor & Fragrance School is a training center for the next generation of Japanese perfumers and flavorists, providing essential education services for graduates looking to enter the food, fragrance, and cosmetic industries.

David was asked to speak about the Bedoukian family’s contributions to the industry over the past 50 years, including the development of hundreds of unique high impact molecules used in today’s most popular flavors and fragrances, current president Robert Bedoukian’s decades of dedication to various industry boards and continuing efforts to identify exciting new high impact molecules, and through his grandfather, Paul Bedoukian’s work identifying the first successful synthetic route to manufacture Leaf Alcohol, founding the company, and writing 50 years of annual reviews for new molecules in the F&F industry.

A technical demonstration followed this discussion, where David presented finished flavor and fragrance applications showing how to use several unique Bedoukian molecules, including one of Bedoukian’s newest ingredients, Guavanate.  David describes Guavanate as the true essence of ripe, pink guava.  It has an exotic, fruity, slightly woody character, with a creamy coconut dry-down, which makes it an excellent choice for adding a unique, tropical twist to your fragrance or flavor formulation.

Following the presentation, David commented, “It was a great experience meeting Japan’s next generation of perfumers and flavorists.  We had an amazing day together, and I was impressed by their high level questions, curiosity, and depth of knowledge.  It gives you a good feeling for the future of our industry.  I think everyone was impressed by how small amounts of our high impact molecules, often traces or parts per million, can add a unique signature to their formulations.”
